Dr. Eck's Statement on Current Events in Israel

Statement

When three young Israeli boys were kidnapped and murdered, Hamas celebrated the murderers as heroes. When six Israelis were suspected of murdering a Palestinian boy, Israeli leaders issued an apology, promising to imprison any who are found guilty. Israel is a nation of laws and respect for life, while those who call for Jihad celebrate the most brutal forms of killing of the innocent..

Israel is now sustaining unprovoked rocket attacks out of Gaza. Israel needs to do everything in its power to defend its people. Israel is our friend in the Middle East, allowing for freedom of religion and freedom of speech. It is a peaceful and humane nation. We pray for the peaceful innocent people in nations that are run by those who wish to destroy the nation of Israel.

Our nation should not send any arms to the Middle East, as was called for by President Obama and Secretary of State Kerry last week. $500 million of our taxpayer dollars sent to purchase weapons which could easily be transferred into the hands of those who would destroy our friends, is not a sound policy decision.

Our hearts go out to the people of Israel, a nation that must always be vigilant because it is surrounded by countries who brashly call for its annihilation. We must support Israel and cut off any aid to entities that would further propagate violence in the region. We must seek peace in the Middle East.
